Who we are
Dating back to 1902, the Infantry Blue Cord ‘Fourragere’ is presented to all infantry-qualified soldiers in the United States Army, an honor created to increase morale and set them apart from other units, indicating their duty to fight on the front line.
Winemaker:
My name is Andrew Wheeler, and I am the owner and winemaker of Blue Cord Cellars. Blue Cord was named after the legendary Infantry Blue Cord earned by graduating from the United States Army Infantry School. I received the Infantry Blue Cord during the summer of 2006, and it is a memory I will never forget. The Blue Cord means many things to many people, but to me it is the embodiment of perseverance, integrity, and grit.
The grapes I used to make the wine are grown with determination and perseverance through varying conditions and extremes. Some of these extremes are exactly what is needed to produce exceptional vintages and high quality, ageable wine.
